True Country
Seattle Women’s Chorus celebrates the uniquely American phenomenon that is country music, with a special focus on female country music legends like Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, Martina McBride, Dixie Chicks, Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, and Anne Murray.
Add to this illustrious line-up of standout performers SWC’s special guest artist, singer-songwriter Chely Wright. Wish Me Away, a new documentary film about Wright’s courageous decision to come out as a lesbian within the conservative world of country music recently (and remarkably) won “Best Documentary” at the Nashville Film Festival. Backed by the rich harmonies of Seattle Women’s Chorus, Chely Wright will share her unforgettable story and her unmistakable musical talent.
True Country will be hosted by the semi-popular mother-daughter Country duo Euomi and Wynotta Spudd (The Spudds), bringing their songs and down-home dysfunction to SWC’s stage. The Spudds are the creation of outrageous Seattle kamikaze comedy duo, Lisa Koch and Peggy Platt(Dos Fallopia).
