Have you ever wanted to have 200 men as your back-up singers? Do you love to sing Karaoke? Do you sing every day in the shower and fantasize about singing at Seattle’s largest performance hall in front of thousands of people? Then Chorus Idol is your opportunity to make your dreams come true; and you should enter today.

Before you decide to send in an entry, please note that you must 18 years old or older;
and available the following days and times:

Sing Out Preview
Saturday, June 16, 8:00 PM
at the Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center
Sing Out Performances
Friday, June 22, 8:00 PM
Saturday, June 23, 8:00 PM
both at McCaw Hall, Seattle Center

From the YouTube submissions,
a group of semi-finalist will be chosen by the artistic staff of Flying House Productions — there is no predetermined number of semi-finalists, there could be 10, there could be 30 —
Semi-finalists will be will be notified by Friday, June 8, 2012.

From the semi-finalists four finalists will be chosen by live at the Chorus Idol Sing Out event on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Julia’s on Broadway. They will be judged by the audience, the artistic staff of Flying House Productions, and a “celebrity” guest panel.

Two of the four finalists will perform a song
(2 minutes) of their choosing live at Seattle Men’s Chorus’ Sing Out concerts on June 22 or 23, 2012, competing for that night’s title of Chorus Idol. The audience will vote and choose the night’s Idol. That night’s Idol will then get to sing the solo on a pre-determined song with Seattle Men’s Chorus.

THE DETAILS

All YouTube entries must be received by Friday, June 1, 2012
One submission per person

If more than one entry is received, we will use the first entry received.
No current members of Seattle Men’s Chorus or Seattle Women’s Chorus are eligible to enter Chorus Idol
Your submission must be 3 minutes or less
You may choose to do more than one song within the 3 minutes; each song must be performed with some sort of accompaniment

Upload your YouTube Video:
All entries must be uploaded to YouTube, no tapes or video files will be accepted.
Upload your video to YouTube using the instructions from this link.

Make your video public:

Sign into your YouTube account and click the Account link located (at the top-right of any page).
Then click the Video Manager link. Click and choose the video you want to send to your friends. Then, click the Edit button.
Under the Broadcasting and Sharing Options section (on the left-hand side of the page towards the bottom) you’ll see Privacy options. Click the little black arrow/triangle to expand and see all your privacy options (if it’s not already open and you cannot see your privacy options).
You’ll see two options: Public and Private. Click and select Public.
Click the Save Changes videos to finalize your choice and make the video available to all users.

Share you video with us:

Sign into your YouTube account and click the Account link located (at the top-right of any page).
Then click the Video Manager link. Click and choose the video you want to send to your friends. Then, click the Click on the Video.
Once the video launches in its own page, copy the URL from the address bar.
Send an email to info@flyinghouse.org with the subject line: Chorus Idol Entry. Include ALL of the following information:
- URL of Video:
  (paste YouTube URL code here)
- Full Legal Name:
- Date of Birth:
- Email:
- Phone Number:
- Address:
(This information will be kept private; and the video will be used only in conjunction with Seattle Men’s Chorus’ Chorus Idol event and Sing Out concert.)

Need Help in Recording Your Entry?
Black Nail Productions hosts Karaoke four times a week:

Monday and Tuesday Nights - 9:00 PM
at PURR on Capitol Hill
Sunday and Thursday Nights - 9:00PM
at CHANGES in Wallingford

and they are happy to have you come down and have you video tape your entry at one of their Karaoke nights. (Please call the bars to be sure they are hosting that night.) When you sign up to sing, let them know you are there to record your entry for Seattle Men’s Chorus’ Chorus Idol.
