You Pick the Hits
Finally, in response to years of fan requests, Seattle Men’s Chorus (SMC) will prepare and perform songs that you, the audience, will help choose! SMC subscribers and single ticket buyers alike will have the chance to participate in online voting that will help shape the program.
Since these will be audience favorites (probably the subject of a fair bit of in-the-shower vocalizing over the years), it’s only appropriate that you’ll also get to sing along to a few of the selections! Completing this populist program will be SMC’s own version of the talent show that’s taken the planet by storm, something we’re calling “Chorus Idol.” The talented winners of several Seattle-area singing competitions will be present to demonstrate their vocal prowess during the first half of the show. Audience voting will determine the winner, who will then take the spotlight with the thrilling backup of the 200+ voices of Seattle Men’s Chorus!

Preview Performance

New for the 2011-2012 season is a series of preview performances where, for only $10 a seat, audiences can peek “behind the scenes” to see how we prepare a show for the main stage. These previews will be held at the Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center, a beautiful performance venue in the city of Renton. Audiences will see/hear the Chorus fine-tune songs and staging for the upcoming show, and have a unique opportunity to engage with artistic director Dennis Coleman, as well as members of the Chorus, in an after-show audience discussion.
